TAVERN TOUR

Wednesday and Friday's,

  Begins In front of the Gettysburg Hotel.

Balloon Rides, Murder, Tanks, Medal of Honor... some of Gettysburg’s colorful and unusual history happened in Taverns. Stroll with a Gettysburg Licensed Town Guide to the sites of some of Gettysburg’s most historic taverns and hear unusual but true stories that took place at these legendary watering holes. Your Guide will regale you with stories about Presidents, fires, civil war activities and Temperance societies. While you will not be consuming any food or drink during the tour, at the conclusion your Guide will provide each person with a 10% voucher (food) from the Garryowen Irish Pub, a 10% voucher off any purchase from Ploughman Cider Taproom, and a voucher for a complimentary beverage (house wine or draft beer) from the Gettysburg Hotel. BATTLE IN THE STREETS

Tuesday and Thursday

  Begins In front of the Gettysburg Hotel.

First shot fired at Gettysburg July 1, 1863, 7:30 am started the 3 day battle. Citizens were in a turmoil with a growing flood of wounded men being brought into town. Between 3:30 & 4:30 pm the Union lines to the west & north of Gettysburg crumbled and soldiers converged into one blue mass moving through the town with Confederates on their heels. There was fighting in the streets, alleys & yards, as the town's people sought refuge in their cellars as the war was brought to their doorsteps. Walk the streets and alleys with a Guide and hear the stories of the civilians who lived through these violent days as the battle spilled into the town of Gettysburg.

Meet a Guide for a Mystery Walking Tour of Untold Tales. You might hear about a murder in Gettysburg that has never been solved! You will hear tales of secret meetings and strange circumstances surrounding the burials of civilians and soldiers.Your Guide will also tell you tales that could be folklore or could be true, you must decide!
